The cities of the future, born from the crucible of civilisation, have become icy deserts dotted with long-abandoned skyscrapers. Bands of survivors explore the ruins of old London and plunder the scarce resources that are left, hoping to sell them to the Pure Caste in exchange for food and fuel. The only people left with high technology, the Pure Ones, are the elected heirs of the old civilization. Protected by fortified citadels, they manage the bands of survivors, helping them in their search or putting them in conflict with rivals.
