In the 21st century, Catan finds himself at a turning point. The island’s Viking forebears lived in an agrarian society that is long gone. Catalans now depend on energy to maintain a dynamic and expanding civilization, yet the island is suffering greatly from pollution.

You have to make a decision: Should you spend money on renewable energy sources or go with less expensive fossil fuels that could have catastrophic implications on the island?

The brand-new stand-alone game CATAN – New Energies is based on the traditional building, trade, and harvesting features of CATAN. Power plants, energy tokens, and environmental events are some of the additional gameplay features that give fresh tactics and narratives to an already well-known base.
