Claire: Extended Cut is a psychological horror adventure for the PS Vita that follows a young woman named Claire who is haunted by her past while caring for her comatose mother.
Gameplay Features
Survival Without Combat: Claire has no means of fighting back. Players must rely on running, hiding in lockers or boxes, and using a flashlight or lighter to navigate the darkness. Panic System: Claire’s mental state affects the world. High levels of fear can cause the environment to become more terrifying and, on “Nightmare” difficulty, can literally scare Claire to death.
Moral Choices: Players encounter other “lost souls” in the darkness. Decisions to help or abandon these NPCs directly impact the game’s multiple endings.
Puzzle Solving: Progress is gated by cryptic, Silent Hill-inspired puzzles and item-finding tasks
Claire: Extended Cut is a 2D psychological survival horror game that serves as a definitive console upgrade of the 2014 original, featuring an enhanced engine that supports dynamic lighting, real-time shadows, and a 2.5D visual effect for greater environmental depth. This version expands the narrative with a revised script, additional story segments, and increased “time travel” interactions between Claire and her younger self to better flesh out her traumatic history. Gameplay is further augmented with a New Game Plus mode, multiple difficulty settings including a lethal Nightmare mode, and the removal of various bugs present in the initial PC release. On the PS Vita specifically, it offers Cross-Buy with the PS4 version and full compatibility with PlayStation TV.
