Vigilante is a side-scrolling beat-’em-up where you play as a lone martial artist fighting through gang-controlled city streets to rescue your kidnapped girlfriend, Madonna. Inspired by classic arcade brawlers, the TurboGrafx-16 version delivers colorful sprites, fast action, and smooth animation as you battle waves of enemies using punches, kicks, nunchaku, and jump attacks.
Each stage represents a different part of the city—back alleys, construction sites, bridges, and rooftops—culminating in boss fights against gang leaders armed with chains, bats, and heavy weapons. While simpler than later beat-’em-ups, Vigilante remains a recognizable arcade staple with quick, satisfying combat and a gritty urban theme.
