Echo Night: Beyond is a haunting first-person survival adventure from FromSoftware set aboard a lunar research station where your honeymoon turns into a nightmare. Your spacecraft crashes en-route to the Moon and you’re left in a spacesuit exploring abandoned corridors, encountering ghosts, and battling panic and low gravity while trying to piece together what went wrong and survive the haunting phenomena.
Unlike typical horror games, there are no guns — the focus is on atmosphere and vulnerability. When ghosts appear your heart rate spikes; reach a critical level and you’ll suffer a fatal heart attack, making emotion and pacing key tools of survival.
Echo Night: Beyond was developed by FromSoftware, the same studio that would later become world-famous for creating Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring.
Before their rise as pioneers of “Souls-like” action RPGs, FromSoftware spent the late ’90s and early 2000s experimenting with atmospheric first-person adventure titles like the Echo Night trilogy. These games focused on minimal combat, real-world tension, and environmental storytelling—early seeds of the mood-driven design philosophy the studio would later be celebrated for.
