Senran Kagura Burst Re:Newal is a 3D action remake of the original 3DS game, offering the complete origin story of the conflict between two rival ninja academies, Hanzō National Academy and Hebijo Clandestine Girls’ Academy. The synopsis follows the “good shinobi” of Hanzō as they undertake training and missions, and the “evil shinobi” of Hebijo who operate from the shadows with darker motivations and backstories. - Transition to Free-Flowing 3D Combat: Rebuilt on an enhanced version of the Estival Versus engine, the game transforms the original 3DS side-scrolling action into a full 3D hack-and-slash experience with fluid HD visuals.
- The Burst Mechanic: A central new feature that allows players to activate “Burst Mode” to significantly increase damage and execute infinite Aerial Raves—high-speed mid-air combos—culminating in a powerful Burst Finish that can shred an opponent’s health and clothing.
- Shinobi Transformation & Frantic Mode: Players can use the Ninja Art gauge to trigger transformations that fully restore health and grant access to devastating Secret Ninja Arts. Alternatively, Frantic Mode can be activated at the start of a mission to trade nearly all defense for a massive boost in attack power and speed.
- Extensive Character Customization: The Dressing Room features over 150 items to customize the hair, accessories, and outfits of more than 20 playable characters. Note that while customization is extensive, the “Intimacy Mode” found in other versions was removed from the PlayStation release.
