Bravoman is a quirky, action-platformer originally released in arcades by Namco in 1988 and later ported to the TurboGrafx-16 in 1990. You play as the bionic superhero Bravoman, who must rescue Dr. Bomb’s captive hostages and take down the villain’s army of robots across 22 challenging stages. Beyond its tongue-in-cheek homage to tokusatsu (special effects) hero shows, the TurboGrafx-16 version features new levels, enhanced graphics, and extra enemy patterns not present in the arcade original.
Bravoman was originally released in Japan as 超絶倫人ベラボーマン (Chōzetsu Rinjin Berabōman), which roughly translates to “Super Ultra-Person Bravoman.” The character and game were designed as a playful parody of Japanese tokusatsu heroes, such as Ultraman and Kamen Rider, incorporating exaggerated stretchy limbs, comedic villains, and over-the-top transformation scenes.
