Released in 1993, Tetris 2 for the NES is a color-matching puzzle game that departs from traditional line-clearing mechanics in favor of a style similar to Dr. Mario. Players must align three or more blocks of the same color horizontally or vertically to clear them, with the ultimate goal of eliminating specific flashing “fixed blocks” to complete a level. Unlike the original game, falling pieces are multi-colored and can split apart when they land, allowing individual segments to continue falling into open gaps. The game features a standard 100-level single-player mode, a logic-based Puzzle mode, and a competitive split-screen Versus mode against a second player or the computer.
