About the Composer

Yoko Shimomura is one of Japan’s most celebrated video-game composers, known for her ability to blend classical orchestration, ambient texture, and emotional melodic writing. Before composing Parasite Eve, she was already recognized for her work on Street Fighter II, Live A Live, and Super Mario RPG. Afterward, she became world-famous for scoring the Kingdom Hearts series, Legend of Mana, and Final Fantasy XV.

For Parasite Eve, Shimomura drew inspiration from operatic vocal traditions, industrial electronic music, and the cinematic tone of 1990s bio-horror films. She has noted in interviews that she approached the soundtrack as a hybrid of psychological horror and human drama, using fragmented melodies, choir elements, and shifting electronic pulses to reflect the tension between Aya and Eve, as well as the game’s themes of mutation and evolution.
